Shane – Ma Fille Rosé 2016
Vintner Shane Finley’s one goal when making Rosé is brightness. Rosé to him is a convivial wine and needs to evoke a sense of freshness. It is a wine to be shared with friends and the 2016 Ma Fille is just that wine.
Shane received his BA in English and left a job in the insurance industry to start his wine making career. He began as a harvest intern and started to work his way up. His on the job training took him to South Australia, Northern Rhone then back to California as a Cellar Master at Copain Custom Crush. Then onto Paul Hobbs’ small lot winemaking. Sixteen years later Shane is the owner and winemaker of Shane Wine Cellars.
The Ma Fille Rosé has a vibrant salmon pink color. The fresh aromatics of pink grapefruit, light strawberry, and saltwater taffy spring forth. Bright acidity carries the mid-palate and focuses pomegranate and watermelon accents. The wine is energetic and finishes with hints of rose petals, star anise and sour cherry.
