Not far from Napa, just to the east in the Sierra Foothills sits some of the best Zinfandel vineyards in all California…and we bring you something special from Skinner Vineyards…the Six-Horse 2012 Zinfandel.
Six-Horse is focused on the legacy varietals once grown by James Skinner beginning in 1861 and throughout the Gold Rush Era. The 2012 Zinfandel Six Horse is a wonderful wine…made with grapes sourced from the 100% Certified Organic Cedarville Vineyard. 2012 was a very late and cool growing season which produced a restrained yet nuanced classic varietal.
Aged 20 months in French Oak and blended with just a touch of Viognier (4%) and even less Syrah (2%), the Zinfandel Six-Horse puts forth classic characteristics with just a bit of added complexity.
This Skinner Vineyards classic has Brambly fruit flavors and aromatics such as blueberry and boysenberry. These elements are coupled with subtle notes of white pepper, dried herbs, vanilla bean and sweet Christmas spices. If you’re a fan of Zinfandel, you will be impressed by the polished yet supple palate with modest tannins and pleasant acidity – a real pleasure to sip before dinner or to compliment pasta, hamburgers or a good steak.
